Job Shadow
Job Reflexive Narrative
For my job shadow I went to a fire station in Porterville to job shadow a Fire Fighter, his name was Ricardo Castillo. The reason I chose this was because this is something I honetsy concider doing as a carrear in life. March 24th is the day I went and what I basically did was listen and see how a whole regular day goes for him.
When I first got there he showed me around the Fire station; he showed me all the different rooms they had in there. There were rooms for them to spend the night, a living room, and bathroom with a shower, and a kitchen. He also showed me where they kept the fire trucks and all thier gear. After he showed me around he explianed to me as much as he could about being a fire fighter and everything it takes to become one. After that he took me out for a drive in the fire truck and explained whats in the truck . When we got back to the station we did our interview and he asked me if I wanted to stay a bit longer to wait if they got a call, but no one called so I left after an hour of waiting.
I learned so many things that day, things about the job that I didnt even know I would have to do. I learned all the different tools they use for the job and appropriate time to use them. He showed me to put on all his gear the right way when ever they get a call and showed me how to take off all the gear. I also learned about the edacation I need to become a fire fighter and that the more education I get the more I can get paid. Something I liked a lot was tht he was very clear about everything he told me and he was will to answer any question I had for him. What I didn't like was that I didn't get the experience of going out to one of their calls.
From my experience to going to the job shadow I am still interested in being a firefighter. The reason to that is because everything I learned sounded exciting to me and i find it as a job I wouldnt mind haveing for as a carrear.
